TitleOnline Teaching and Learning
Description: During this module we read and discussed the topic of online teaching and learning. We were given many resources on the topic and given the opportunity to discuss our own experiences and thoughts when it comes to online teaching and learning.
Impact: I have had the opportunity to take five different online classes (including two this semester). All those classes were about a variety of topics at many different level of education. Even thought I have taken all those classes, I have never really taking the time to consider my strengths and weakness as an online learner. During this module I really took a good look at what type of learning environment I prefer and how I have succeeded in an online environment. Listening to others experiences has really helped my understand how other people view online learning and how many of their view are similar to mine and many are different. Through this discussion, I have also come to the realization just how much online learning and online teaching are intertwined. The more I read and discussed online learning I realized that all I was looking at was directly related to online teaching. As online learners we all know what works for us and what doesn't. Considering all experiences we have had being online learners, will help us become good online teacher. By drawing from our own experiences, we can make sure that we don't make the same mistakes that have frustrated us as online learners.
Intent: I intend to continue using my online learning experiences to build my online teaching skills. I will be continuing to take online classes through this IT program, and in those classes I will be learning valuable skills that I will be able to use in my own classroom. I will also look for more opportunities to use my skills in online teaching situations. There are many ways that I can use my current skills (wiki, edmodo) in my classroom.

Over the course of the semester we have explored many different uses for this page both for teaching and for learning. Wikispaces is an online community builder where teachers and students can build pages and interact with each other. Wiki pages is free and can be used in an educational setting.
Impact: Because of our extensive work with wikispaces in field experiences, I decided to try and use this tool with my students. I have seen the value of the website in my own online learning experience, so I felt that I would also be valuable to students and their online learning experiences.
